"The intersection of outdoor recreation, diversity, equity, and inclusion: From increasing awareness to creating relevance."

Dr. Nina Roberts is nationally recognized for her work revolving around race, class, and gender with expertise on constraints to visiting forests, parks and other public lands. She also studies trends and connects with managers to develop strategic action plans; breaking down barriers and developing partnerships is essential to improving access. Dr. Roberts is a visionary with great energy and an unwavering commitment to community engagement among diverse social and cultural groups. This will be a dynamic talk about the synergy between outdoor recreation and issues of diversity, equity and inclusion while advocating holistic thinking and advancing personal and professional responsibility. In maintaining the spirit of Starker Lecture Series goals, Dr. Roberts will connect the state of outdoor recreation, positive sustained action, observing and learning, and supporting vibrant communities. Sample strategies and ideas for how to respond more effectively to changing demographics, as well as cultural shifts and trends across the U.S. will be shared. 

There will be a dinner at 6:00pm - 8:15pm in our Agriculture Production Room after the lecture.
